MTV's downtown is a show that was aired from August 3rd to November 8th, 1999. It lasted one season and the prodcuer himself was unsure as to why it was cancelled.
This show was different than most. Bless up MTV.
but what makes this show so different?
So Much!
Their "voice actors" had no training, they were just people off the street. They had them improvise their lines and the animators animated it later. It gives it a really real feel, like it's just people hanging out. I love it too much.
It also has a great score/soundtrack which is sadly only availible on youtube which I have linked below
Downtown Score playlist (Shoutout Kimson Albert, the producer of the beats)It follows 8 people, all who live in the lower east side of manhattan who are either teens or in their mid 20's.
My favorite character is Matt, but a close second is Chaka.
I don't want to reveal too much about this show because I feel like watching it for the first time, you should be trying to figure it out
I can't fully explain the quality of this show, you just have to watch it. It's free on youtube or you can watch it on internet archive MTV's Downtown Complete Season 1 (1999)
Human Traffic was written and directed by Justin Kerrigan
This movie focuses on five people in their early twenties who live in Cardiff (located in the southern part of Wales), who love drugs and the 90's clubbing scene.

I always love when directors play a part in their own movie
This movie has one million elements that I appreciate but what I appreciate most of all is that this movie makes it feel like they are actual friends. Silly phone calls, silly sayings, bullshit conversations about star wars, it's too good.
There are so many things this movie does not have to do, but it does. It also has an epic soundtrack.
You can watch it here -> Human Traffic (1999)
This movie was probably my favorite movie when I was dipping my toe into the punk scene. I didn't realize a lot of the elements of the movie, particularly that it was making fun of the punk scene. I watched it and thought, man I want to be apart of that. Honestly I don't blame 16 year old me. This movie is still so good!
On top of being incredibly stylized, witty, and featuring Matthew Lillard in his mid 20's, this movie is fun.
It breaks the fourth wall by sometimes having Matthew Lillard narrate to us the moments in the movie. Its energized, portrays the suburban punk culture and is a film I think every teen should see, for better or for worse.
I feel like this style has become less popular since the 90's/2000's. Being back being unserious yet tasteful.
These pieces of media either embody or have just a couple elements of something so unique that I love.
Here is a list of some media that embodies what I want it to in some way or anotherI linked them if I could
